Remember the Skoda Felicia? In 1999 Skoda unveiled the Skoda Fabia, it took over from the Felicia as the Czech brand’s supermini. The Fabia though a Skoda was heavily developed by Volkswagen, the parent group of Skoda. In 2005 the Fabia was given a facelift to bring it in line with the brand’s design philosophy. Changes included front fog lights and grille, modified rear lights, new steering wheel and revised specification levels.
The Skoda Fabia in Scotland comes with a long list of engine options including two 1.2 litre three cylinder petrol engines. More modern engines include the four cylinder 1.2 litre turbo petrol units. The petrol range is topped by the 1.4 litre turbocharged and supercharged petrol engine found in the vRS model. There are four diesel engines to choose from, three of which are 1.6 litre variants with 74, 89 or 104bhp. There is a small 1.2 litre diesel engine that runs on just three cylinders.
When looking at the Fabia it doesn’t instantly strike you as a supermini, it is quite big for a car of its class. It offers good ride comfort; decent handling and the control are light and easy to use. Due to its height there is some body roll present, many drivers have also complained about the vague gear changes.

Andreas Mikkelsen took the Skoda Fabia S2000 on the Rally Azores, which is the first gravel event in the 2011 Intercontinental rally Challenge. He said before the event, "I really enjoy rallying in the Azores because the stages are really nice, especially the volcano stage Sete Cidades, which is a beautiful stage with big drops. The rest of the rally has beautiful landscape too, very green, nice and warm and really challenging for a driver, so I'm looking forward to it."
