In a world full of technology you’d be surprised to find that when out driving many people still find that it is completely possible to get lost when travelling from A to B. However, there are a number of ways that you can stop yourself getting lost on your journey. This article offers some tips and strategies on how to stop from getting lost when out driving.
1 – Follow the road signs. This might seem obvious, but you’d be surprised the number of people who actually fail to do this simple task. The road signs are there to tell you in which direction to go in, so follow them. Unfortunately you’ll have to follow the major routes for this strategy to be effective, and you’ll also need to know the general direction in which you are going therefore this strategy might not be the best.
2 – Stop and ask someone for directions. This might be the old fashioned approach and it was also the basis of many an argument between people in the car, where one person wants to stop to ask for directions and the other doesn’t! To be fair this approach is only going to be effective in a local area so you’ll need to be in the right general place in the first place for a random stranger to be able to help. There’s no point in asking how to find Birmingham if you’re currently driving around Cornwall.
3 – Buy a map. This for some is a bit of a last resort as they hate to spend any money. However, if you’re lost and you can’t find any road signs, don’t want to stop to ask for advice then the next best option is to pull into a petrol station and buy a roadmap which will give you a good idea of how to get where you are going. Of course, it won’t tell you where you currently are so that is another problem to solve.
4 – Use your Smart phone to tell you where you are. If you have a smart phone then you’ll be able to use it to not only tell you where you currently are but also how to find where you are going. The only real downsides to smart phones is that sometimes 3G runs very slowly if you are out of town and when using map applications the battery gets drained pretty quickly. However, it’s always a great, ‘last ditch attempt’ option to help you find where you are if you are in a pickle.
5 – Buy a used car with a Sat Nav. This might be the best solution if you’re the type of driver who constantly finds themselves getting lost. Buying used cars from main
Vauxhall dealers means that you can find an approved used car with Sat Nav already installed.
By following the strategies outlined above you’ll get lost a lot less often than you might if you just drive randomly from one place to another.
