Audi pump it up

During the tail end of 2009 Audi were struggling to meet customer demand as popularity of their models grew immensely. China was a massive growth market for the Garman car maker who exceeded annual sales forecast for 2010. 1,148,791 units were sold in 2010 which is a growth of 23.4% compared to 2009.

Frank Dreves, Member of the Board of Management for Production at AUDI AG was bullish about next year’s sales figures, he is confident there will be significant growth partly down to the introduction of new models such as the Audi Q3 and the new Audi A6 Saloon. He mentioned plans for a new production plant in America, which may be finalised soon with production to start around 2015.

Audi was very proud of its production plants worldwide, who all reported significant growth in 2010. The Ingolstadt plant achieved its highest volume to date, of 553,010 cars which is up 7.5%. The Neckarsulm site increased production by 21.7% to 216,322 cars, and is now focusing on producing the new Audi A6 Saloon after the successful launches of the Audi R8 Spyder, the Audi A8 and A8L, and the Audi A7.

Peter Mosch, Chairman of the General Works Council of AUDI AG commented, "The Audi growth strategy provides long-term security for our sites and for the people who work there. Without their dedication, Audi would not have been able to cope with the economic crisis of 2009 as well as it did. Everyone worked very hard in 2010, which resulted in more production and higher sales and enabled Audi to emerge from the recession stronger than ever. Now we want to continue following this path in the future."

The Audi A4 in Essex was very popular last year, I know of a few people who have been waiting more than 12 weeks for their new A4. Audi hope to eliminate this long waiting time for delivery to make sure its customers are satisfied.
