Audi, the premium German car manufacturer has been producing the Audi A6 since 1994; it is available as a 4 door saloon or an estate version, referred to as "Avant" by Audi. As of this year there have been three generations of the Audi A6, all three have been available as either front wheel drive or with Audi’s famous quattro permanent all wheel drive system.



The 2011 model of the Audi A6 is due to hit dealerships in the first half of the year, the new A6 has been heavily influenced by the new Audi A7, the A6 has taken interior and exterior design cues. With the introduction of any new model the outgoing model always becomes slightly cheaper to buy, 2011 will be a good time to buy a used Audi A6 in London.



The outgoing model has been around since 2004; in 2008 it got a facelift to keep it fresh and in line with Audi’s latest design philosophy. The 2004 model came with a lot of petrol engines to choose from, the most popular were the 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder unit, the 2.8-litre V6, and the supercharged 3.0-litre. In the diesel category there are two 2.0-litre engines, plus a smooth 2.7 litre and a powerful 3.0 litre V6.



The Audi A6 is a big car, traditionally a big car needs a big engine to make it move swiftly, this is not the case with the A6, due to its lightweight construction even the 2.0 litre petrol engine seems sufficient enough.



Like all Audi models the outgoing A6 is very well refined, inside the cabin any outside noise is kept out perfectly. All the engines including the big diesel are quiet and smooth, when you thrash the engines you get a nice sporty note rather than a screaming squeal.
